I was first introduced to spicy romance at the tender age of seven. If my mother ever knew, she would have had a coronary on the spot. Fortunately, she didn’t know and I see no good reason to tell her now.

One afternoon during summer break, the three musketeers, Josie, Gracie and I, hid in the basement at my house reading the golden treasure that Josie found hidden underneath her parents' mattress.

We each took a turn reading a page. We had trouble pronouncing some of the words, but that was okay because one of us would interrupt the narrator with some form of pronunciation that seemed to suffice to the rest of us. Did we understand what we were reading? Probably not, but the fact that we were doing something we weren’t supposed to be doing was exciting.

Now its years later and I’m creating my own characters in the genres I love to read. Romantic comedy and romantic suspense are my favorites. Authors like Holly Jacobs, Millie Criswell, Janet Evanovich, Lisa Gardner, John Grisham, and Brad Meltzer, to name a few, have intrigued me with their tales and encouraged me to choose those genres for my stories.

During the plotting of these stories, I conspire to play with your emotions. If I can bring tears to your eyes, make you laugh out loud over something funny, or keep you on the edge of your seat wondering what’s going to happen next, then, I’ve accomplished something very special. And, what could be more satisfying than that?

Writing can be difficult at times, but doing something you love can be both exciting and rewarding. I celebrate every success along the way, because you never know how long it will be before the next one happens.

Rejections are part of a writer’s life. It happens, but you move on and don’t let it destroy you. Did you know that Casablanca was rejected over seventy-five times before someone decided to produce it? And look at the acclaimed notority that movie has reached. Follow that dream, and never, ever give up. I promise you, dreams really do come true, and it's well worth the wait!
